Assam – RSS Swayamsevaks distributed food materials to 14,513 families, in 410 villages

Braving Coronavirus terror and country wide lockdown, RSS Swayamsevaks are standing by the poor people of the state. 756 volunteers are working day and night to provide food materials to the poor and needy. As of now, food materials have been distributed to 14,513 poor families in 410 villages, in 22 districts of the state. Barpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup (Metro), Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Chirang, Darang, Golaghat, Bongaigaon, Marigaon, Baksa, Sunitpur, Dhubri, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, charaideo, Nagaon and few more districts have been covered as of today. Till now, 59,370 kilograms of Rice, 1,127 kilograms of Dal, 1,889 litres of Mustard Oil, 6,128 kilograms of Salt, 79,425 kilograms of Vegetables, 6,291 pieces of Soap and 1,624 packets of Salt have been distributed. Apart from this, Swayamsevaks have arranged sanitization facilities in 16 places within the state. In this regard, the Prant Prachar Pramukh of Uttar Assam, Kishor Shivam said, “In this hour of National and community crisis, RSS is serving the people of entire Assam. Without fearing a little bit for one’s own life, our Swayamsevaks came out to serve the community as well as the people of the country. By spending their own money, the Swayamsevaks are providing food materials from house to house to poor and downtrodden people of the state. Service is the ultimate religion, and this is the motto of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In the backdrop of this motto, we are serving the people of the state cutting across community and religion. Coronavirus is terrorising the world community, and to get rid of this deadly virus, lockdown is going on in our country. During this lockdown period, many people are facing food scarcities especially those who support their families working as daily wage earners. In this hour of crisis, RSS is standing by these people. With the initiative of ‘Seva Bharati’ (a wing of RSS) food materials are being distributed among many poor people. On the other hand, to stop spreading of Coronavirus, Swayamsevaks have started sanitization works in villages after villages. Though some selfish people always accuses RSS of being communal, RSS has always provided a helping hand and stood by the Nation and communities in the time of crisis”.
