Chhath Ghat vandalised allegedly by radicals in Purnea, police launches probe

Purnea, Bihar. In a shocking incident unfolded reportedly on Thursday late evening, November 7, radical elements allegedly vandalised a Chhath Ghat in Seemanchal region, leaving the local Hindu community fuelled with anger.

A video of the alleged incident has also gone viral on the social media platform X in which a defaced Chhatth Ghat, a sacred site for Hindus could be seen vividly. A youth in the video could also be heard alleging the involvement of Islamists behind the provocative act.

The incident pertains to Malagram of Baiasi police station limits of Purnea district which has angered the local Hindu community as seen in the viral video.

Purnea police however in a social media post informed that the Baisi police has taken cognizance and the matter is currently being investigated. It further informed that the law & order situation in the locality remains normal, requesting not to spread rumors.

Significantly, Chhat Mahaparva is being celebrated by the Hindus across the country. The mega festival is primarily associated with Purvanchal region encompassing Bihar and eastern part of Uttar Pradesh.
