Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh celebrates Hindu Unity Day (Hindu Sangathan Diwas) to commemorate the coronation of Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1674 A.D. at Raigad in Maharashtra. According to Hindu calendar, the day was Jyeshtha Shuddha Trayodashi of the Shalivahana Era 1596 (or Vikrama Era 1731).
Georgia chapter of HSS organised the annual conference on 16th June at Georgia Tech inviting Temple Executives across Georgia. Hindu Sangathan Diwas offered the representatives from temples like BAPS, Shakti Mandir, Sanatan Mandir, Hindu Temple of Atlanta, Shiv mandir, Shree Devi Peetham and few other organisations like Sewa international, VHPA to network, exchange the ideas, synergizing with each other, at the same time maintaining their autonomy.
Function started with a solo Geet ‘Dharma ke liye jiye, samaj ke liye jiye’. After an introductory session by HSS Georgia President Ajay ji Houde, representatives from each temple organisation shared the different work and activities conducted by them and challenges. The representatives from temples shared the need for working together, reaching out to community and awareness among second generation kids/youths.
Following this discussion session, attendees heard the keynote address by Saumitra ji Gokhale, Global coordinator for HSS. Saumitra ji emphasised the need to collaborate different Hindu temples, organisations making greater impact in contributing to community. He shared few examples of excellent work happening across USA by Hindu organisations inspiring Georgia representatives to take the initiative further.
The conference provided an excellent platform for the organisations to network, get to know and learn from each other. HSS thanks to all the executives from Temples, organisations for attending the function.
