Hindu Yuva at Arizona State University celebrated Navaratri Utsav on the 6th day of the Dussehra festival. The event began with Saraswati Pooja (invocation), followed by devotional song for Mahaganapati and a Devi dance. There was an ‘On-the-spot skit’ arranged to encourage the talents of the students. Four teams consisting five students in each team, took the stage recreated the scenes from our Puranas. The enacted scenes focused on our women role models such as Sita, Kathyayini, Skanda Maata, and Devi Kalaratri. With a maximum 10 minutes of practice, the students planned and performed the skits well following a huge applause from the audience each time. Golu (Dolls Festival) was the special attraction. There were about 1000 students danced together in Garba at the end, followed by Prasad distribution. On the same day, A large number of students participated (and witnessed) in a ‘flash mob” on campus.
