Chennai. Shri Brahma Yogananda Swamiji has built an Ashram called Sastralayam and also Bharat Mata Temple at Neelamangalam Village, near Madurantakam in Chengalpattu District (about 50 kms from Chennai). Through his Ashram and Spiritual service, he has brought transformation in the lives of nearby villages. One example is the village called Thirukunnathur. This Village was economically and socially backward.
Swamji built Maha Narayana Swami Temple and also reconstructed Muthu Mariamman temple in the village. As the temple was approaching Kumbabhishekam (consecration), the villagers shunned non-veg and also liquor.
The consecration happened in grand manner with whole-hearted participation of the villagers.
During the course of Consecration, more than 500 villagers vowed not to consume alcohol. The Village is positively moving in the direction of becoming liquor-free. Swamiji has proved that solution to any problem can be found through Spiritual service and Sanatan Dharma.
