Make Vaccines & Medicines Patent Free

Kurukshetra. India is facing an unprecedented situation of second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. We have to face this facility very bravely and jointly as one country. Bhagwad Gita teaches us this lesson that how we can face adverse conditions in life by presenting a brave fight and performing our duty with positivity and self-confidence.” Minister of Highways and Small-Scale Industries, Government of India Nitin Gadkari said this while speaking a webinar on the subject of Corona Vaccine and Medication Equity organized jointly under the joint aegis of Haryana Higher Education Council and Swadeshi Swavlamban Trust with active support of Kurukshetra University on Tuesday. We need to improve our 50 bed hospitals by making them self-sufficient in cryogenic oxygen production. Social organizations and religious organizations can create oxygen cylinder and oxygen cylinder banks all over India.

“Entire Indian population will be vaccinated by December 2021. Indian government is working with Indian and International manufacturing companies to ramp up the production of Covid control vaccines from 3 crore in May to 50 crore per month in December 2021.” Ministry of Shipping, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Government of India, Mansukhbhai Mandaviya informed this while speaking in the webinar. He further said that India is the pharmaceutical center of the world and it has the capacity to reach this goal of saving the entire Indian population and also helping other needy countries, added Mandaviya.

Geeta Manishi Swami Gyanand ji Maharaj said that we need to take life lesson from Bhagwadgita and face the second wave of covid as Arjuna faced the condition of inaction in Bhagwadgita.

Education Minister Govt of Haryana Kanwar Pal Gujjar said that the webinar is topical and all of us need to face the second wave of Covid with bravery and confidence.

General secretary Association of Indian Universities, Dr. Pankaj Mittal said that there are 3.7 crore students and 15 lakh students in 840 universities and there is urgent need to safeguard youth of the nation by vaccinating them.

Former Government of India Controller General of patents, P.H. Kurian said that we need to free corona drugs and vaccines from patents and World Trade organization controls. Transfer of technology in making vaccines will play a major role in saving precious lives in India and all over the world.

Haryana Higher Education Council Chairman, Prof. B.K. Kuthiala said that universal access to vaccine and medicine must be ensured to all people of the world by waiving off the patent and IPR laws of the vaccines and medicines. Educational institutes have to play a major role in making an opinion about this before the world leaders.

Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva said that a petition for making vaccines free from patents during Covid is being circulated and we expect that large number of citizens will sign this.

A large number of Vice Chancellors from all over India attended the webinar and some of them expressed their solidarity in this movement of patent free vaccination to save the humanity.
