J&K – Maa Kheer Bhawani Yatra Commences, 5000 Kashmiri Hindus Depart from Jammu

Jammu. The Annual Maa Kheer Bhawani Yatra-2024 was flagged off from Nagrota, Jammu by Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar. 5000 Kashmiri Hindus departed for Kashmir in various vehicles amid tight security.

Div Com. informed that the Administration has made all necessary arrangements for convenient pilgrimage of the devotees of Shree Mata Kheer Bhawani.

Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Arvind Kirwani said, “This yatra is flagging off from here,… The arrangement of transportation has been made by us… The pilgrims will take a halt for some time. We have arranged a ‘langar’ for them… We arranged 200 vehicles for the pilgrims…”

The four-day pilgrimage started with Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Relief Commissioner (Migrants) Dr Arvind Karwani and prominent Kashmiri Pandit leaders flagging off the pilgrimage from the Nagrota area in the outskirts of Jammu city.

The annual Kheer Bhawani Mela, celebrated on Jyeshth Ashtami, will be held on June 14 at the shrines of Tulmulla in Ganderbal, Tikker in Kupwara, Laktipora Aishmuqam in Anantnag, Mata Tripursundri Devsar in Kulgam, and Mata Kheer Bhawani Manzgam also in Kulgam. This is the biggest festival of Hindus in Kashmir after Amarnath yatra and holds immense significance in J&K.
