Chennai. Based on the pleasant experience that thousands of Tamils had during their participation in the first Kashi Tamil Sangamam in November 2022 the second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat) is set to be held from December 17 to 30, 2023 (https://kashitamil.iitm.ac.in/) in order to revive the bond between holy city Kashi and Tamil Nadu. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) announced the launch of the registration portal of the programme. Both the cities, Kashi and Kanchi, had ancient vishwavidyalayas, the highest seats of learning. From time immemorial, if Kashi was the aspirational city of higher education, Tamil Nadu was the aspirational land of applied knowledge. If Kashi saw the zenith of pandita parampara, Tamil Nadu saw the peak of Tamil ilakkia parambarai (Tamil literary tradition). These are illustrations which show how the two regions of Bharat, Kashi and Tamil Nadu were the cradles of the heritage of knowledge says Chamu Krishna Shastri, Chairman, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, ministry of education (High Powered Committee for the Promotion of Indian Languages) and Padmashree recipient. As part of the Orey Bharatham Unnadha Bharatham (Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat) vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2.0 will further strengthen the common experience, aspiration and bond among the people of Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.
