The CPM government in Kerala is facing huge embarrassment over the construction of a memorial for two persons who were killed while making country bombs. CPM workers Shyju and Subeesh were killed in an explosion in 2015 in Kannur in north Kerala.

CPM state secretary M V Govindan is scheduled to inaugurate a memorial dedicated to them on Wednesday. Interestingly, back then, the CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had claimed that those killed in the explosion had no connection with the party.

Shehzad Poonawalla said, “The hypocrisy of the left is truly explosive. On one hand, the Left parties are saying that they want the country to do away with nuclear weapons. The same Left parties in Kerala are giving away a memorial to two notorious bomb-makers who were killed while making a crude bomb and were indulging in political violence. What are they planning next? A memorial for Burhan Wani?”.

Burhan Wani, who was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, enjoyed huge popularity in Kashmir. His death in 2016 caused a lot of unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

“The Left has no faith in the ballot. Their only faith is in bombs and bullets. Is this the agenda of the I.N.D.I. bloc,” he said. He asked the Opposition INDI bloc to explain its stand on the issue. The CPM district leadership is yet to react to the criticisms surrounding the issue.

The Congress, which is politically opposed to the CPM in the state, has alleged that the party was functioning like a terror group. “It’s a bizarre thing. CPM in Kerala has been acting as an international terrorist group. They will decide whom to be killed, then they will arrange the weapons, place. They will hire the goondas or criminals or party workers and after the crime party will save the culprits and somebody will be sent to jail,” said VD Satheeshan.

Last month, a CPM worker was killed and three more were injured while making country bombs at Panoor. Even though the CPM leadership distanced itself from them, some local leaders of the party visited the house of the deceased.
