Kochi. In the matter pertaining to transfer of Rs 5 crore from Guruvayoor Devaswom to Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief fund, the Kerala High Court on Friday said that if found anything unconstitutional stringent action will be taken. The High Court observed the matter after a petition filed by Hindu organizations, including Hindu Aikya Vedi against Devaswom board’s move.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi and the BJP have started a legal battle alleging that Guruvayoor Devaswom donated Rs 5 crore to the chief minister’s relief fund. In a similar fashion, Devaswom Board had redirected Rs 5 crore to CMDRF during previous flood calamities.
The petition has demanded that the entire amount transferred from the Devaswom Board be recovered and that the existing Devaswom Board be dissolved and the Receiver administration be implemented.
Meanwhile, there have been protests against Chairman KB Mohandas’s claim that non-religious people are worshiping at the Guruvayur temple and that the temple income is not only of the Hindus.
