Kerala – Shocking Incident of setting fire to a running train; Search for assailant is on

Kochi. Details of those undergoing treatment in the incident of kerosene being poured on the bodies of fellow passengers and set on fire in a running train are out. The unheard-of incident took place in the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express (16307) train, which was leaving from Kozhikode railway station to Kannur. Nine passengers, including three women, suffered burns after the coach was set on fire.

Anil Kumar (50), his wife Sajisha (47), and son Advaid (21) are undergoing treatment. Anil Kumar is an advocate clerk. 29-year-old Ashwathi, a resident of Thrissur Mannoothi, her husband Prince, and Ruby, a resident of Taliparamp, a section officer of Jyothindranath Kannur College, are also undergoing treatment. It is reported that they have 20 percent to 30 percent burns.

The bodies of three people, who are suspected to have jumped for life after the fire, were recovered. Two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Shuhaib and Jaseela, natives of Chaliyam, Kozhikode, Shahramath, and Jaseela’s sister, Rahmat of Badria Manzil, Kannur, Mattannur, Palotupalli, died. The third person has not been identified. The bodies of the three were found lying on the track.

There are reports indicating that the incident is a terror attack; however, there is no official confirmation. The preliminary information of the police is that the incident was planned. After the incident, the police got footage of a man escaping on a bike. TTR has given a statement to the police that the person who committed the violence was not the person who had reserved the ticket. Fingerprint experts are on the spot. The police have intensified their search for the accused.
