Pune (September 4). “Vedas have been the source of integral wisdom and science and traditionally we have been protecting them. To keep the faith alive in the society today, up-to-date knowledge of the Vedas should be conveyed to the common people”, said RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat here on Wednesday.
He was speaking at the function to honour the Veda Sevaks, jointly organised by Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Nyas and Shree Sadguru Group, Pune, at Balgandharva Rangmandir, here.
The Veda Sevaks were felicitated after they had performed a lengthy Anushthan (ritual), while chanting all four Vedas at Ayodhya. The ritual was performed for a prolonged period of about 16 months, from November 2022 to February this year in 36 phases, involving 240 Purohits and volunteers from different parts of Maharashtra.
Sarsanghchalak Ji said that the Vedas are not just ancient texts, but are the very foundation of our spiritual heritage, offering profound wisdom and insights into every aspect of life. “There is a need to carry forward this knowledge, in an up-to-date form, to the newer generation who can take it to the world with the message of global peace.”
Citing recent cases on the global front, he said there has been increasing apathy and disharmony everywhere. “Evil forces across the world have united to destabilise the peace of the world. Bangladesh is not the first example. It started with ‘cultural degradation’ of America, Poland, and the Arab world (with the Arab Spring), and it may reach Bharat soon.”
“We have the ability and can tackle these evil forces. We can do this, because we have knowledge in the form of our scriptures such as Vedas. The idea of our knowledge should be presented in a language that is relevant to the times and understood by the society.”
He stressed on the importance of sharing family values with the younger generation to keep them rooted to the Indian tradition and family value system.
“When the family system all over the world is being destroyed, it’s still strong in India since ancient times because of the prevailing value system of family in the country,” he said while calling up the Veda Sevaks to preach these values wherever they perform Pooja. “Humans learn from practice, so practice has to be taught in the light of philosophy.”
He also stressed the need to do away with any discrimination. “When there is no place for untouchability in the scriptures, why should there be this unwholesome discrimination?” he questioned.
Champat Rai, vice president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust; and Swami Govindadev Giri Ji Maharaj, treasurer of the Trust; Dr. Hanumant Gaikwad of Bharat Vikas Group, Pune; Abhijeet Pawar, chairman of Sakal Media Group; and Yashwant Kulkarni, founder chairman of Sadguru Group, also spoke on the occasion.
Champat Rai in his speech gave details of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and elaborated on the future plans.
He said 18 temples are going to be constructed in the premises including the temples of Seshnaga, contemporary Rishis — Valmiki, Vasishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya — king of tribals Nishadraj and Shabari.
He also said that they are working on zero discharge, environmentally friendly systems that will cater to 25,000 pilgrims who visit the temple.
Acharya Govindadev Giri Ji extolled the virtues of penance and said that Pasayadan by Sant Dnyaneshwar is the “manifesto of Ram Rajya”. “Many evil forces are bent on destroying this country. To suppress them, we have to create a system where every-one should give some years of our life for the society, country,” he added.
Sincerely appreciate the views expressed related to Vedas and family values TN state not in the right path requires more efforts to preserve sanatana dharma
We have always mind that our country is first then family. Keeping in view of the thought is also upward in our life and revilable to our mind.
Good decision from sang
R. S. S సంస్థ మన భారతదేశం ని హిందూ దేశం ప్రకటించే వరకు పోరాడాలి మన హిందూధర్మాన్ని మన అందరం కాపాడుకోవాలి
This was required to preserve our sanatan dharm . It should be introduced in schools as well . Bhagwat Geeta and Ramayan must important topics to be introduced for children . Which will help them in life to make perfect decisions and mainly good citizen . Hopefully preserve our dharam .In Maharashtra, as Aditya Thackeray was going to introduce Urdu in schools (hopefully didn’t happen ) we must introduce Sanskrit language compulsorily.
The simple messages of Vedas on following dharma, self discipline, equality, respect for woman, empowerment, literacy, karma etc need to be taught with the simple examples. Many Young generation think these are stories but they follow these in different forms in modern office and company policies !!! every one of them – Equality for LGBQT, ethics, integrity, women in leadership etc etc but fail to recognise that these were all taught many thousand years ago in vedas !! so a bit of reforms in Hinduism is also needed to convey the way youngsters can recognise it … This is what todsy Islam and Christianity are doing ..
