Visakhapatnam. In Alluri Sita Ramaraju District, Paderu, the Mandal head quarter, a big rally has been called for the demand of delisting by the Janjati Suraksha Manch on the coming 9th April, 2023. Thousands of tribal citizens will participate in this Maharally, who have only one demand – delisting of converted schedule tribes from the list of scheduled tribe category mentioned in our Constitution.

Today, on Thursday, 06th April,2023, in the Public Library auditorium located in Visakhapatnam, P. Suryanarayana (National Convenor, Janjati Suraksha Manch), Bakuru Karunakar Advocate (A.P State Vice President-Janjati Suraksha Manch, Visakhapatnam) and Kimudu Devi, Social Worker (A.P General Secretary-Girijan Ikya Vedica, A.P) briefed the press.

On Sunday, April 9th of 2023, this Maharally will be organized at ‘Talarisingh Main Road’, from Goutami School, Talarisingh premises to Government Junior college grounds in the Paderu Mandal headquarters, between 12.00 noon to 3.00 p.m. Through this rally, the tribal society has demanded that citizens who have adopted foreign religion (such as Christianity or Islam) leaving their original culture and their original religion, should be immediately excluded from the category of Scheduled Tribes and for this, the necessary amendments should be made in constitution by the government.

Since in Andhra Pradesh also a large number of converts are illegally taking away the facilities of the native tribes, in which reservation is also a major element.

We want that the tribes of Andhra Pradesh, as well as the country, the injustice being done to crores of tribals should be stopped and the converts should be de-listed.

Conversion in India, including Andhra Pradesh, has been a major threat to the Scheduled Tribes of India since pre-independence. Conversion of people of Andhra Pradesh through foreign religion is not a new phenomenon, but it has seen a huge increase since last few decades. Such conversions are affecting the tribal community like a slow poison and it is eroding their original beliefs, culture, customs and rituals.

In fact, reservation has been given to the tribal society so that their social and economic conditions can be uplifted. But the basic purpose of tribal reservation becomes meaningless when the tribe converts to another religion by rejecting its original faith and culture and customs. Now the question arises that when a person has lost the identity of his own community then how can he be eligible to avail the benefits given to protect and maintain his original identity?

That’s why in order to save their native culture, customs, languages, traditions and heritage of their ancestors, Janjati Suraksha Manch is organising a huge rally on 9th April of 2023, in which thousands of tribal people from all Uttar Andhra districts will participate. We request all to help us in fighting and saving the poor Scheduled Tribes from foreign religions, otherwise many of the identity and characteristics of the tribal community will be extinct in no time.
