    NAMAMI BARAK FESTIVAL

    Silchar (Assam). There was a Festival named “Namami Barak” held for a period of 3 days from 18th to 20th November in Barak Valley, South Assam. It was organized by the Government of Assam. As per government Namami Barak is not merely a festival but it is a symbol of integrity, prosperity and progress of the valley. The programme of the festival was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal. In the closing ceremony Honourable President of India, Ram Nath Kovind Ji was present on 20th November as chief guest. Lakhs of people participated in the festival with joy and enthusiasm. Various programmes like cultural, Art-craft, sports, seminar etc were organised in the festival. Different famous dignitaries participated the festival. But the main theme of the festival was Barak Aarati. Maha Aarati was performed in different parts in the bank of the river Barak. Thousands of tiny earthen lamps were illuminated. The members of Keshav Smarak Samiti, Sanskrit Bharati, Vidya Bharati took an important role in the Aarati celebration of the festival. Members of the Kreeda Bharati participated to conduct the respective programme.
