NCPCR in Action – FIR against Children’s home run by missionary who forced Hindu kids to recite Christian prayers

Katni. MP police registered an FIR against the Children’s Home run by a Christian missionary after a complaint filed by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

The FIR has been registered under the Juvenile Justice Act and Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act. The FIR has been registered at Madhav Nagar Police Station.

The Children’s Home in the Jhinjhari area of district Katni in Madhya Pradesh forced children to recite Christian prayers at school. The Hindu children, who belonged to SC/ST community complained against the missionary. Based on their complaint, NCPCR acted upon and called for an investigation.

NCPCR chief Priyank Kanoongo tweeted, “During the inspection of a children’s home run by a missionary in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, Hindu tribal and Dalit children were forcibly made to pray for Christianity and children were not given material for their use as per rules, personal documents of children were tampered with. Evidence has been found.”

He also revealed that the children have also complained against the officials of CWC and District Child Protection Unit. “The Special Police Unit has recorded the statements of the children. Now I am going myself to register FIR in Madhav Nagar police station Katni,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he said, “FIR has been registered against its director Gerald Almeda and other accused under the Juvenile Justice Act and Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act. The FIR has been registered at Madhav Nagar Police Station”.
