We received a Watsup’s message on 23rd May around 8 pm informing that a Special (Shramik) Dimapur bound train started from Gurgaon, Haryana with 1300 passengers on board including girls, ladies with babies facing lots of problems with shortages of food and water, more over some of them were sick. Hearing this people here in Nagaland became very anxious and worried. We Seva Bharati Nagaland took up this as our duty to help them out and started contacting the passengers. We were taken aback hearing that they were literally starving due to shortage of food and water. Then immediately started coordinating with Seva Bharati Karyakartas in Delhi.Within very short period of time our Karyakartas communicated to Siliguri Seva Bharati and requested them to arrange food, water, baby food medicines for the passengers. With a very short notice our Karyakartas at Siliguri arranged lunch (with rice and sabji, dal) fruits, water, baby food, snacks and medicines including diapers to be distributed as soon as the train arrives at NJP.
Unfortunately early morning at around 4 am the train faced some security problems at Danapur station which was shorted out with timely intervention by RPF. Because of this train got delayed. Our Karyakartas in Delhi coordinated with the officials of Indian Railways and snacks, water were served to the passengers at Katihar station at around 5 pm.
By 9 pm the train reached at NJP where Karyakartas were waiting since morning to serve food, water, fruits, snacks to all the passengers of the train. Medicines also were provided to the sick passengers and baby food were provided to the babies.
The passengers were very thankful and conveyed their gratitudes to Seva Bharati Karyakartas for their selfless services to the passengers during their need at NJP.
Finally they reached at their destination Dimapur station from where they were taken directly for quarantine.
People in Nagaland are appreciating our Karyakartas timely initiatives to help the passengers in spite of lockdown and Sunday at Siliguri.
