Rahul Gandhi gets a blow from Bombay HC
Mumbai (VSK) : The Bombay High Court on Tuesday (10th March) dismissed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s writ petition praying to squash an FIR against him in the Bhiwandi court.
The Bhiwandi RSS Secretary Rajesh Kunte had filed a defamation suit against Gandhi in connection with his statement at rally Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi. Adv. Ganesh Dharglakar argued the case for Kunte. The Bhiwandi First Class magistrate had issued a summons to Rahul Gandhi to appear before the court and plead the case.
Rahul had challenged the magistrate’s order in the HC heard the matter on March 9. Senior lawyer Cheema represented Rahul Gandhi and senior lawyer Vishnu Kokje, Vinayak Deekshit, Ram Apte and Adv. Aniruddha Garge represented the other side.
Justice M L Tahiliyani had reserved his order for a day. On Tuesday, Justice Tahiliyani refused to give any interim relief to Gandhi and ordered the Bhiwandi court to continue the case. The HC also has asked Rahul Gandhi to appear before the Bhiwandi court.
