Kochi. The Social Media Confluence Lakshya 2025 was held in Kochi with a call for a movement against drugs, anchored in creative youth. The annual event of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, held at Elamakkara Bhaskareeya Convention Center, was inaugurated by former DGP Jacob Thomas.

Jacob Thomas stated that flaws in the education system are a major reason for the spread of drug abuse among the youth. He criticized the current education system, saying that it has made students lazy. In the past, students had to work hard to achieve good grades, promotions, and success. But today, even without studying, they receive A+ grades. There is no atmosphere of physical or intellectual challenges in schools, nor are there opportunities for competition in sports or arts.

He further added that schools lack systems to provide motivation or guidance for developing natural talents. Teachers simply teach the syllabus without taking responsibility for shaping students. Moreover, if teachers attempt to discipline students, they face action against them. As a result, children are left in a state of confusion, unable to distinguish right from wrong. Society, too, has contributed to this scenario.

There is no space in Kerala to call out wrongdoings. When some people commit mistakes, they are not even acknowledged as mistakes. For example, Hamas invaded Israel and committed brutal atrocities against women, even parading their naked bodies on vehicles in the streets. However, many are unwilling to call this out as a crime. Instead, an effort is being made to create a narrative that justifies such actions. But when Israel retaliated, these same voices raised protests against it.

Jacob Thomas also pointed out that everything in Kerala is running empty – the treasury is empty, hospitals are empty, ration shops are empty – but false narratives are being used to cover up these realities. After COVID-19, a narrative was created that Kerala is number one in healthcare. Now, a new narrative is being pushed that Kerala is leading in industrial growth. To promote this, lakhs of rupees have been spent to hire a company from outside Kerala. This narrative is being widely circulated.

In reality, the state is witnessing rampant drug addiction among youth and increasing murders. The situation in Kerala is alarming. Social media has a responsibility to expose the truth. We must stand on the side of solutions, he said. He also stressed the need to expose those who work against peace, prosperity, knowledge, and spirituality.

The event was presided over by K.C. Narendra. Prajna Pravah National Convenor J. Nandakumar, RSS Dakshin Prant Sanghachalak Prof. M.S. Rameshan, Kshetra Prachar Pramukh J. Sriram, V. Vishwaraj, and V. Prajesh Kumar also spoke at the event.
