Sukma – Badesatti village becomes first Naxal-free Gram Panchayat of Bastar division, 33 Naxalites Surrender

Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Badesatti village of Sukma district has become the first Naxal-free Gram Panchayat of Bastar division. Eleven Maoists active in this village surrendered before the Superintendent of Police in Sukma.

Chhattisgarh is moving rapidly towards fulfilling the resolution of Union Home Minister to make the country Naxal-free by March 2026. The Chhattisgarh government has recently launched the Ilvad Panchayat Yojana.

Under this scheme, such Gram Panchayats from where all active Naxalites leave the Maoist organisation and return to the mainstream of society will be declared Naxal-free Gram Panchayats. There is a provision to immediately approve an amount of one crore rupees for construction work to such Gram Panchayats.

Eleven Maoists active in Badesatti village of Sukma district surrendered. These Maoists had a reward of eight and a half lakh rupees on them.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that the Badesatti Gram Panchayat is proof that the three-pronged strategy of trust, rehabilitation and development is proving successful in connecting Maoists with the mainstream of society.

Thirty-three Maoists surrendered in Sukma district. A total reward of Rs. 49 lakh was announced on these Maoists. Of the Naxalites who have surrendered, 11 Naxalites were active in the Gram Panchayat Badesetti in Sukma district.

Twenty-two Maoists, including nine female naxals, surrendered today in Sukma district. A total reward of 40 lakh 50 thousand rupees was announced for these Maoists. These Maoists surrendered before the senior officers of the Police and the CRPF.

In a social media post, Union Home Minister said, 33 Naxalites have surrendered in the Sukma district. He said, 11 Naxalites surrendered in Badesetti Panchayat of Sukma, making the Panchayat completely Naxal-free. He congratulated the security force personnel and the Chhattisgarh Police for this success in the Naxal-free India campaign.
