In one of its kind acts, the social media giant, Twitter while taking strict action against China’s propagandists has shut down as many as 1,70,000 accounts linked to the Chinese Government who were using the platform to push deceptive narratives.
Twitter said it had identified 23,750 core accounts that were used to tweet content favorable to Beijing and a further 1,50,000 accounts that were used to amplify the content, for example, by retweeting content posted by core accounts.
