Kozhikode. Kozhikode railway police took five Rajasthan natives into custody for bringing children without adequate documents. The 12 girls who were with them were handed over to the Railway Police Child Welfare Committee. The children were brought on the Okha Express from Baroda on Tuesday.
Suspicious passengers informed the railway police and the RPF was at the Kozhikode railway station. They were taken into custody.
They gave a statement to the police that they were taking them to teach at Karunalaya in Aluva Pulluvahi. Three of the adults are their parents and the other two are their relatives, they told the police.
According to the statement, one of the group studied at Karunalaya and as they were economically backward, they were taking the children to Karunalaya for education.
An investigation conducted by the RPF found that the license of the company mentioned by them had been cancelled three years ago.
They also did not have the documents to be produced while taking children from one state to another state for education. Further investigations are on.
