Kerala – CPM unleashing a reign of terror and post-poll violence

Kerala. Immediately after the declaration of election results in last held assembly elections, Kannur District is witnessing bloodshed and violence, carried out by CPM men against political opponents, particularly against Sangh swayamsevaks and BJP workers and sympathizers. There were incidents of bomb attacks on persons, properties and vehicles of RSS, BJP workers and we are summarizing the incidents, as set out hereunder.

There are 55 cases registered against CPM workers in Thalassery, Panur, Kadirur, Dharmadoam, Mattannur, Iritty, Chakarakal, New Mahe, Kolavallur stations. These 55 incidents took place in just 3 hours. 26 RSS, BJP workers have been hospitalized in various hospitals. Besides 4 mothers and sisters are also admitted.

Out of the above, 2 persons are seriously injured. Rameshan, zonal secretary of BMS Thalassery was attacked after trespassing into his house and his entire body was seriously injured with cut injuries and is now battling for his life at Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode. The second is Narayanan from Chavassery, near Mattannur and is admitted at Indira Gandhi Hospital, Thalasery with deep cut injuries.

13 houses are completely destroyed at various places, the majority causalities happening at Mambaram and Pinarayi. 3 vehicles were damaged by setting fire on them and also damaging them beyond repair. 6 shops have been attacked and destroyed at Pannayampara Kannur and Karetta, falling under Mattannur constituency.

The tension prevailing at Puthankandam, where a CPM worker was killed due their own accidental act, is still there. Almost all the houses of BJP, RSS workers were attacked and bombs were hurled damaging the entire house hold articles. Three vehicles including a Scorpio jeep was completely damaged. Bombs are hurled without any interruption and police is remaining a mute spectator to this. Actually Ravindran was killed while a group including him had come to attack the houses and workers of RSS, BJP. When they started hurling bombs towards us, some stones were thrown in retaliation and Ravindran had accidently fallen from the lorry he had come and while the lorry driver was chasing to leave the place, the wheels accidently hit Raveendran and later he succumbed to his injuries.

The BJP’s election committee office of Dharmdaom Constituency at Vellachal, from where Pinarayi Vijayan was elected, was attacked and properties were damaged. So also the offices at Chalad, Karetta, Kuthuparamba was attacked with bombs and were damaged. A seva Kendra of RSS at Koduvalli, thalassery was set on fire yesterday evening.

An estimated loss of Rs.1.5 crore is sustained in all the incidents. Apart from this the situation of Sri Rameshan who is now at Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode is alarming and is advised to undergo seven major surgeries to save his life.
