The Dean and Assistant Warden of Pookode Veterinary University have been suspended in connection with second year BVSc student Siddharth’s death. Dean MK Narayanan and Assistant Warden R Kanthanathan were suspended by the newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. PC Saseendran. The VC pointed out that MK Narayanan and Kanthanathan being in charge of college and hostel may affect the ongoing investigation of Siddharth’s death.
Numerous complaints, including those from Siddharth’s family, alleged negligence on the part of both the Dean and Assistant Warden. In response to this, the VC sought explanations from them. However, they were suspended by the VC on the grounds that the explanation received from them was not satisfactory.
In their explanation to VC, they claimed to have taken lawful actions upon getting information of Siddharth’s death, including personally being there while Siddharth’s post-mortem examination was being done and promptly informing the family. Despite their explanations, the VC found their actions inadequate.
Earlier, the Governor had suspended Vice Chancellor MR Saseendranath over Siddharth’s death.
