NIA Arrests Four More Accused in Kerala Gold Smuggling Case

New Delhi. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said it has arrested four more persons for providing funds for procuring and smuggling gold in connection with the sensational Kerala gold smuggling case, officials said. As per NIA’s press release –

In continued investigation in Kerala Gold Smuggling Case, yesterday (13.8.2020), NIA arrested four more accused after their roles in conspiracy and pursuant smuggling of gold through diplomatic baggage addressed to the UAE Consulate at Thriruvananthapuram surfaced in investigation.

The arrested accused are Mohamed Anwar T. M. r/o Malappuram district, Hamzath Abdu Salam @ Kunjumon, r/o Malappuram district, Samju T.M r/o Kozhikode district and Hamjad Ali r/o Malappuram district.

During custodial interrogation of the earlier arrested accused persons viz. Jalal A.M., Md.Shafi, Said Alavi and Abdu P.T., it was revealed that Mohamed Anwar T.M., Hamzath Abdu Salam @ Kunjomon, Samju T.M. and Hamjad Ali provided funds for procuring and smuggling gold into India.

Searches have been carried out at their houses at six locations in Malappuram and Kozhikode Districts today (14.8.2020). Digital devices and incriminating documents have been seized during searches. 5. So far, NIA has arrested 20 accused in the case. Further investigation in the case is continued.
