New Delhi. Amid the presence of pioneers from different cultural houses and film and media personalities, its team, mentors, well wishers and esteemed people, UDAAN (Unfolding Drama and Act to Awaken Nation), celebrated its ‘Calendar launch’. The event saw the release of road map for the upcoming year which had all the details of the events and activities to be held throughout the year. On this occasion eminent people from different cultural and media houses like Lalit Kala Academy, Sahitya Academy, National School of Drama, AAFT etc. were there. Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, Sh. Sudipto Sen, Sh. Manoj Tiwari, Ms. Advaita Kala, Ms. Malini Awasthi, Sh. Sandeep Marwah and many others graced the occasion.
Along with the calendar for the year, the Vision Document of UDAAN ‘The Journey So Far’ was also released. The document read that UDAAN was established as a platform to generate belongingness in Youth for the society and Nation through performing arts and its variants. UDAAN provides opportunities on campus to bring out students’ talent and to orchestrate the energy of youth with the power of arts. This platform is meant to help synergise the creativity and passion of students in the service of Nation.
UDAAN has already successfully organised two mega competitions. Udaan Utsav – 2016 was a mega Street play event organized at North Campus, Delhi University with 42 participating teams and 975 artists on stage and thousands of audience thronging the venue all through the three days. Its mega success inspired to expand in eight different verticals of creative expression and UDAAN Utsav- 2017 was held on 15-17th February at JNU campus. The response was huge and around 2000 participants showed their zest by registering their presence. The National and International jury judged both the mega events.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. C.P. Dwivedi said, “UDAAN is growing as a big platform to kindle national spirit in the youth of the country”. Mr. Manoj Tiwari also said “UDAAN has been helping students to unlock their creativity and assisting them to be good and responsible citizens.” Famous Folk singer Malini Awasthi said that UDAAN has been making commendable efforts in bringing out the cultural richness of the country in the campuses.
