New Delhi. On 07.12.2020, NIA arrested one accused Rajeev Ranjan Singh@ Chunnu Singh, s/o Mithlesh Prasad Singh, R/o Vill & Post-Atri, District- Gaya, Bihar in NIA Case RC-31/2018/NIA/DLI, related to stealing of weapon parts from Central Ordnance Depot, Jabalpur.
Background of the case is that, 03 AK series weapons were recovered in District Munger, Bihar from the house of one accused Rizwana Begum. The case was originally registered as FIR no. 323/2018 dated 07.09.2018 at PS- Muffasil, District. This case was later taken up and re-registered by NIA for investigation.
The investigation in the case has revealed that prohibited bore/ AK series weapons were stolen and smuggled from the sheds of Central Ordnance Depot by serving and retired personnel of the depot and sold to arms traffickers based in Munger, Bihar which were eventually sold to various Naxal organisations and criminal syndicates. In this regard, NIA had earlier arrested and charge sheeted 13 accused persons.
Investigation has disclosed incriminating evidence of involvement of accused Rajeev Ranjan Singh @ Chunnu Singh, who is a habitual arms trafficker and was one of the main conduits for supply of weapons in this case.
