Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
In response to complaints regarding the exhibition of Adivasis (tribals) during the state government’s ‘Keraleeyam’ programme, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has taken a step by intervening in the matter. The NCST has initiated an inquiry and demanded a report from the Chief Secretary on the incident. A directive has been issued to the Director-General of Police (DGP) and the state Chief Secretary to furnish the report within three days.
As per JanamTV’s report, the NCST’s intervention follows a complaint lodged by Yuva Morcha National Secretary, P Shyamraj. The commission has further conveyed that if the report is not submitted within the three-day period, concerned officials are directed to appear in person to address the matter. This move underscores the protection of the rights and dignity of the tribal people.
