Guwahati. NIA filed a supplementary charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Assam, Guwahati, against five accused namely Pappu Koch Bokoliyal @ Bijoy Asom, Amrit Ballav Goswami, Paresh Baruah @ Paresh Asom, Arunodoy Dahotiya @ Bijit Gogoi and Munna Baruah @ Munna Asom under various sections of IPC and UA(P) Act for their role in the conspiracy of Guwahati Grenade Blast Case.
The case relates to incident of two ULFA (I) cadres lobbing a grenade at a police party near Central Mall, RGB Road, Guwahati which led to injuries to twelve persons. Later, accused Paresh Baruah, the self-styled Commander-in Chief of ULFA(I) took responsibility for the terrorist attack. NIA had re registered the case and taken over the investigation. Earlier NIA had filed a chargesheet against eight (08) accused persons.
During further investigation, additional evidence has been gathered against the accused and supplementary chargesheet has been filed u/s 18B of UA (P) Act for their role in recruitment of ULFA (I) cadres. The supplementary chargesheet includes accused Paresh Baruah @ Paresh Asom, Arunodoy Dahotiya @ Bijit Gogoi and Munna Baruah @ Munna Asom who have been charged for their roles in the conspiracy of the grenade attack and for waging war against the Union of India on the strength of additional evidence surfaced during investigation.
