New Delhi. It was a memorable day for Bharat as the country bagged four medals. Shooters secured three medals for the nation while one was won in athletics. Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal secured gold and bronze, respectively, in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 final.
Much like 30th August three years back in Tokyo, it was a day to remember for Bharatiya contingent at the Paralympics. Exactly three years after becoming the first female athlete to win a Paralympics gold medal, Avani Lekhara doubled it up by defending her 10m rifle title. In the same event, Mona Agarwal bagged bronze.
Manish Narwal also made it back-to-back to the podium, as he followed up his Tokyo gold in 50m pistol with a Paris silver in 10m pistol.
In Para Athletics, Preeti Pal created a slice of history as she became the first Bharatiya ever to win a bronze in a track race at the Paralympics, as she sprinted to bronze with a Personal Best in Women’s 100m T35.
In Para badminton, Suhas Yathiraj (SL4) and Thulasimathi Murugesan (SU5) lived up to their billing as top seeds by qualifying for the knockout rounds in their respective categories.
In Para archery, Rakesh Kumar braved torrential downpour to reach the round of 16 in men’s compound individual event. Sarita to won her round of 32 match.
