New Delhi. The CPI (M) is organising a “women’s wall” to highlight the “renaissance values of Kerala society” on January 1st. Even as the government is misusing all its machinery and taxpayers’ money on a party event, mounting allegations of atrocities on women by party men have cast a shadow on the proposed wall.
On the eve of Christmas, a carol troupe of Pathamuttath Church in Kottayam district was attacked when they objected to nudity and vulgarity of some CPI (M) goons. The goons in inebriated condition attacked the team members, including women and children. Then they ransacked the church and destroyed its property. The team members who took refuge in the Church are unable to go to their houses as CPI (M) goons have threatened more attacks. A police team which is guarding the church is also not ready to provide security to all team members individually.
Although the goons were arrested they are out on bail. The CPI (M) leaders who project themselves as saviors of minorities are silent on the activities of the cadre.
