
Dehradun. Sewa international Uttarakhand celebrated FYUNLI KAUTHIG, a festival dedicated to the spirit of womanhood on the eve of International Women’s day at the Anchal dairy ground in the scenic village Simli situated on the banks of Pinder river on 8th March, 2016. This event was attended by more than twelve hundred women who came from the farthest corners of Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Uttarakhand. There were Tribal women, College girls, housewives, women from various socio-economic backgrounds who are today on the same platform because of the community mobilisation efforts by Sewa International.
Sewa international also honoured 9 women who have done exemplary work in the fields of environment conservation, women empowerment, education, health, public welfare and sports.
Different cultural activities of Garhwal were presented by the Sewa Sakhis including dancing, folk songs singing, awareness skits and interactive sessions. Stalls were also put up by different SHGs showcasing their products like woollens, farm produce, herbs etc. Excitement was palpable in the air when various representative also spoke about the significance of women in the society and what more needs to be done in future. The dusk of the day saw ‘Fyuli Kauthig’ bidding goodbye to the women with a promise to meet next year, bigger and better.
