Kerala – Kidnapping and murder of five-year-old Chandini

Aluva, Kerala. In a tragic incident in Aluva, Kerala a 5year girl child abducted and killed after 2 days. Dead body found in a wrapped sack in vegetable market area in Aluva.

As per police enquiry, the child of Bihar Migrant worker, Chandni has been abducted by Asfaq Alam from Assam, a migrant worker and sold to one Zakir Hussain 2 days back.

The Aluva Rural SP, Vivek Kumar, informed that Asfaq, the accused in the kidnapping and murder of five-year-old Chandini, has confessed to the crime. Asfaq Alam is a migrant worker from Assam.

The SP said that Asfaq’s earlier statement that he had handed the child over to another person was a ploy to derail the investigation. The police have intensified their investigation centred on Asfaq.

Rural SP, Vivek Kumar, said that the Asfaq himself showed us the dead body. At the time of the incident, he was in inebriated state. The motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained and nothing can be said without getting the postmortem report. The crime was committed by Asfaq.

The local people living in the area surrounded the police and the Asfaq and protested, when he was brought for evidence collection. The police team had to return with the accused taking into consideration the mob’s anger.

The victim, Chandini was the daughter of a Bihari couple. She was kidnapped by Asfaq. The police had recovered CCTV visuals of the accused taking Chandini away.

A massive search was launched at several places in Perumbavoor and another area for the child. However, after 21 hours of intense search, the lifeless body of the child was recovered from a muddy area at the Aluva market near the Periyar river.

Migrant workers from Assam, Bengal, UP and Bihar forms the majority of workforce in Kerala. A lot of illegal migrants from Bangladesh also are living among this crowd without any documents or with fake documents. The Home ministry under CM of Kerala has not done anything properly to identify and verify the credentials of these migrant workers arriving in 1000s in Kerala on a daily basis.
