Kerala. NIA has made another significant breakthrough in the murder case of RSS Swayamsevak Sreenivasan in Kerala’s Palakkad district last year. The NIA announced the arrest of Saheer KV, a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI), who had been on the run since the crime took place. Saheer was apprehended by an NIA Fugitive Tracking Team (FTT) at a relative’s residence in Palakkad district.

Saheer, a resident of Palakkad, was identified as part of the PFI Assault and Protection Team responsible for carrying out the targeted killing. Additionally, he played a crucial role in providing protection to the main assailants involved in Sreenivasan’s murder. Due to the gravity of his involvement, Saheer had a reward of Rs 4,00,000 on his head.

In a significant development earlier this year, on March 17, the NIA filed a chargesheet against 59 accused individuals, including the PFI as an organization, in connection with the case. It is worth noting that one of the accused, Abdul Naser, passed away on January 2.

Presently, efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining 11 absconding accused out of the 59 identified thus far in the conspiracy.

The murder of Sreenivasan on April 16 was reportedly a retaliatory act for the killing of SDPI leader Subair. The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has accused the RSS of orchestrating Subair’s murder. This case highlights the deep-rooted tensions and rivalries between different political and ideological groups in the region.
