Thousands of families helped at one thousand places, distribution of ration to the migrants
Pune (VSK). The Corona (Covid-19) has wrecked havoc presently all over the world. The swayamsevaks of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), who are at the forefront for assistance during any crisis, have voluntarily taken the initiative and started the service works. In Western Maharashtra, rations were provided to 67,793 families at 1,017 different places along with various service works, informed RSS Paschim Maharashtra Prant Sewa Pramukh Anil Vyas.
Providing the statistics of relief work in Western Maharashtra till April 20 from the beginning of lockdown, he said that efforts have been taken for distribution of food grains to 67793 families through 3210 volunteers at 1017 places, distribute food to 4,48,021 citizens, 78325 masks and stay homes at 400 places. In addition, 4178 units of blood have been collected. The service has benefited 5,00,179 persons. The relief work is being carried out in Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Nagar, Nashik, Solapur and Pune districts through disaster centers.
It seems important to know the scope of the work done and the sensitivity shown through the various experiments that have been carried out while working. In fact, there is sea difference between working during other disasters and dealing with the current worldwide infectious disease. During this time, it is necessary to do this work by taking proper care of oneself and taking the family members into confidence, convincing them. Nevertheless, the RSS volunteers are working in great numbers taking these limitations into consideration.
Training the swayamsevaks
Regarding the efforts being taken in different districts, he said that seva centers have been started in 392 settlements as per the Pune Mahanagar RSS structure. This work is done in a disciplined manner by grouping more than three or four swayamsevaks in every basti, training all these swayamsevaks using modern mediums, getting them the necessary Identity Cards from the government and police system for transportation. This includes distribution of medical safety equipments, daily distribution of food to the needy citizens, distribution of food grains for a week / ten days, blood donation, etc. However, issues like taking efforts for social distancing, selling vegetables in societies and at different places. More or less same service is being provided in all provinces.
Help in the red light area
Food / grain is being distributed for women (Devadasis) in red light areas in Pune and Nashik. In Nashik, after the closure of all activity after March 22, food to all the stranded truck drivers has been distributed in large number. The youths thronging to major cities for job or business are in great misery. They have neither employment nor means to cook food at home. Large quantities of food are being distributed to such persons. This work is being done mainly in Pune Mahanagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Khed, Sangli, Nashik and Shirdi.
Support to migrant families
Explaining that the scheme of distributing ration is being implemented for the families of the migrants (especially the sugarcane cutters and long staying individuals who have come for job), Vyas said that ration is being provided sufficient for 8 to 10 days to needy persons in all districts of western Maharashtra. Vyas said that this assistance has been provided to about 67 thousand 793 families.
Distribution of materials, medicine
Regarding the distribution of materials, Vyas said that many issues like making and distributing masks, sanitizers, distribution of gloves are being implemented. At the same time, distribution of drugs is being done mainly in the entire city. more than four thousand citizens from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Nashik, Satara and Karad have donated blood following proper rules over the last month.
Help to service systems
Noting that the police system, administration and medical care congregations are under stress at the present time, Vyas said that local swayamsevaks are providing essential services to the service system. Tents have been erected for police at Shrirampur, Kopargaon, Sangamner and Sinhagad area of Pune. Sanitizer tunnels have been constructed at Bibwewadi (Pune) and Loni-Kalbhor. Moreover, various service activities are underway.
