Kerala (VSK). In view of the acute atrocities Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of CPM, has been unleashing in SN College, Kollam, managed by Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, SNDP workers performed a “cleaning operation” in the campus. They set fire to the boards and decorations SFI workers illegally erected in the campus.
SNDP workers congregated in large number to face the possible retaliation from SFI goons. But, SFI could not demonstrate any sizable presence there. SNDP is the powerful community organisation of Hindu Ezhavas in Kerala, founded by revered spiritual personality Sree Narayana Gurudev.
SFI blokes had occupied a security room near the main arch gate. SNDP workers emptied it. SFI had occupied the area in front of the principal’s office and had spread tyres and wooden pieces and displayed lot of publicity materials. They all were removed and the area was cleared. SNDP workers removed the ‘martyr memorial’. Huge hoarding and several other publicity materials were removed from the college auditorium and thrown away and burnt.
Cleaning operation was carried out on December 12 evening, Monday. It was against the student body which takes efforts to damage the college and its reputation. Workers of SNDP and Sree Narayana (SN) Trust took part in the operation. Earlier College Protection Council met in the college and resolved to venture into the cleaning operation.
Addressing the Council meeting SN Trust Treasurer G. Jayadevan said that they would not ignore the sinister moves to defame the college. Hardly 5% of the total student strength are the troublemakers. They hinder the prospects of the studious students. Some students use drugs. Ring leaders try to sabotage the college authorities’ endeavour for obtaining NAAC Accreditation. Yogam Councillor P. Sundaran, Kollam Union President Mohan Sankar, Secretary N. Rajendran, Karunagappalli Union Secretary A. Somarajan, President K. Susheelan, Chathannoor Union President V.B Gopakumar, Secretary Vijayakumar, Kundara Union Secretary Adv. Anilkumar, Chavara Union President Arinalloor Sanjayan and Secretary Karayil Aneesh participated in the meeting. Meeting assured absolute support for the principal’s efforts to establish smooth academic atmosphere in the institution. Those who do not have to attend classes will not be permitted to spend time in campus. Student bodies cannot keep or display their publicity materials in the campus.
