Varanasi. Varanasi Civil Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar who had ordered a survey at the disputed Gyanvapi- Kashi Vishwanath complex said on Tuesday that he received a threat letter from a man named Kashif Ahmed Siddiqui of Islamic Aghaz Movement.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had transferred the Gyanvapi case from the civil court to that of the district judge. The next hearing will be on July 4.
As per media reports, the threat letter insinuated that in present-day ‘divided India’, even the judiciary has taken on a saffron hue. Justice Diwakar has informed home secretary in the Uttar Pradesh government about the threat letter. He has demanded action in the matter.
In the handwritten letter, one Kasif Ahmed Siddiqui who claimed to be the president of ‘Islamic Aghaz Movement’, said that “judges have also turned saffron amidst a divisive political scenario”.
The letter also contains derogatory remarks for the Prime Minister and former Chief Justice of India. In one of his orders issued on May 12, the civil judge had earlier stated, “An atmosphere of fear has been created in an ordinary civil case. My family and I are living under fear.”
Meanwhile, the Varanasi Police Commissioner told that Ravi Diwakar has already been provided security. Nine policemen have been deployed to protect the judge and his family.
